December Daily Day 2

December 2, 2010

Not sure if y'all have seen this quilt but haven't had time to finish it with the binding, so I've decided to put the binding on it this weekend. This quilt is called "Easy Does It" and the pattern is available at The Quilting Niche'. This is a very fast and easy quilt to make because it is made using a Layer Cake from Moda called Fruit Cake, along with a little extra yardage. I'm hoping to have it on my bed really soon so that I'll be able to enjoy it during the Christmas Holidays.

Project this weekend besides putting the binding on the quilt will be to put Christmas decorations out and go choose a real tree. I thaught that it would get done during the Thanksgiving holidays but fat chance, had to many other projects in the works.

Today was spent looking at fabrics that will be coming in during the middle of 2011. Can you believe that I've already ordered fabrics for Christmas 2011.

One of my other projects is a 2010 December Daily Journal that I will journal in and include pictures, christmas cards, favorite holiday recipes, and much more. As soon as I have the pages bounded I will be taking pictures of them and posting them also. Here is just a sneak peak of the cover.

December Daily Day 1

December 1, 2010

Hello, y'all! Today I will share with you a project that I bought when I was in Houston at Quilt Festival. The project is a wool applique on cotton fabric with some embroidery stitches. This project really went together fast and is ready for me to display for Christmas. I liked how fast the stitching went. It only took me about a week to get it all done. I decided to frame it instead of putting it in a pillow.

How did your first day of December go? Do you have your Christmas shopping in the bag? I will try to post something each day of December for a December Daily post.

Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop

This months challenge was Christmas Tags. The minute I saw these stamps and dies I just had to have them. This is my first time participating in a hop and especially a stamping and paper hop because I do more quilting than paper crafting. But I needed some fast and easy gifts so here is what I've been up to. Hope you enjoy and I had a lot of inspiration from all the Papertey Ink design team.

If you need any additional information just drop me a line and I would be glad to share along.

New Toy

I've been so exited because I got a new toy. I'm the proud owner of an ipad by apple and I just love it. I'm presently posting using my iPad. Hopefully this will work.

I'm also getting things together for the Hattiesburg Quilt Show for October 8, 9, and 10th. I'm trying to get some additional projects finished to bring with me. I will have lots of 25 fat quarters for $25.00 and/or 25 for $35.00. I'll also have lots of layer cakes, charm packs, and jelly rolls along with lots of patterns to use them up. They are actually fast and easy to make.

Till next time

love to read quilting blogs...wish I had more time to quilt/blog, blog/quilt

I had Patrick do the drawing and here is the pics.

Over the weekend Patrick and I took a trip to Birmingham, Alabama to attend a market for children's clothes (patterns), fabric and more. I truly enjoyed this show. They had lots of childrens clothes ideas with embroidery and applique designs.

I would really need a time stretcher, so that I could get more things done in a day. I have come up with about 3 or 4 more layer cake quilts and can't wait to get started on them. Hope to have another giveaway soon. Maybe on the project I'm presently working on.

Bill Time

The last couple days I've been getting ready for Saturday Sampler and getting caught up with the bills. In between I've come up with a new Layer Cake quilt which I will be working on maybe by the weekend but the bills have to get done first. Hopefully I will have the quilt and pattern done by the end of September. So I leave you to get back to balancing the check book and finish paying the bills.

Hectic Weekend

Well we've had a very busy weekend. Saturday after we closed the store we took a trip to visit with Patricks
parents in Baton Rouge. They seem to be doing fairly well. We found out that Patricks Dad will have knee surgery next week. Hopefully everything will go well.

On Sunday we stayed around the house and I done some embroidery and digitizing then went over to the store so Patrick could put up the new display for AccuQuilt Go.
Then Monday, Patrick went out to cut the grass and when he was doing the trimming with the weed eater he threw a rock and guess what happened just take a look at the picture. So I made him take care of the mess and call to see about getting it fixed.

After we got this all taken care of I was able to finish working on the Newsletter. It is now posted at http://www.quiltingniche.com/ under Newsletter.

Bernina Software

I've been having a lot of fun do some digitizing in my V6 Bernina Software in the past few days. I have imported a Fleur de lis graphic and was able to dizitize it in my software. In the past I never thought that I could do any digitizing but it is very fast and easy. So if I can do it, I know that you can do it also. Like my dad always told me there is no such word as "can't" because if you put your mind to it you can do anything. I will be having classes on doing digitizing in the software. Working on the class scedule for September, October, November and December. I also have Make and Take classes planned for the rest of the year into next year. Actually the Bernina Software will be on sale from September 3rd to Oct 31st. They will have about a $1000. savings on the software.

You won't be able to beat the price.

New Camera

Couldn't find camera so while we were running errands I stopped in at Target and bought me a new camera so I can start posting pics. This is a good picture of Baby Girl Fancy. Picture on the left is one of my projects that I'm working on. It was stitched on 32 count linen using the Bernina 830. I digitized this design from a cross stitch pattern into the Bernina Software and then stitched it out. This is awesome. I will be posting more when I finish this project.
Take Care until next time

Getting Started

Thanks to Jamie for helping me get my blog up and running. I had computer problems last night and wasn't able to get on the web for some reason. Today was the day that we choose the Shop Hop winners and I will be calling them in the morning to let them know that they have won. Yes we have two winners from the Houma area. The person who won my store basket and our grand prize winner are both from Houma. I would have listed their names but would like to contact them first.
I will be closing my web site and only have the blog which I will be able to post more often. Pictures will be added along with what's new in the store. So stay tuned for a lot of inspiration, tips and techniques with a whole lot of fun.
